Creating new stores across the UK for one of the country’s fastest growing fast casual dining brands

Chaiiwala is now one of the fastest growing independent food chains in the UK with a portfolio of over 35 stores and another 40 in the pipeline. This feat is even more spectacular considering the brand began life in July 2015 from a chance idea among three friends.

Our remit from the brand was to continue its signature style and look with a kitchen to suit. As per our original brief for its first store, we had to work with architects, designers and sign manufacturers to stay to the brand guidelines.

Following a full rip out of the existing site which was a former restaurant and ​warehouse which had been split into 12 different units, we began working through the plans.

With 11 other units being refitting at the same time – this store presented its own challenge when it came to space, access and services as we have to work in conjunction with other tradesmen on site.

The Solution
Wee created a new front to provide a glazed surrounding for the store to allow maximum light and also for customers for either side of the surrounding streets to be able to see inside the store.

Inside the store, partitions were created to break the space between the kitchen, counter area and the seating areas. We then worked to completely fit out the kitchen area with all the appliances and a full venting system with the correct ducting system. The drainage system also had to be configured to correctly dispose of waste and externally we created another outside area for additional seating and a full CCTV system was installed across the site.

A new counter and staff area was created to ensure there was a link between both areas. To cater to the needs of customers, and to also comply with regulations, we installed the correct flooring and then completed the site with all the required lights, fixtures and fittings.
